Using district heating correctly can help you save more on heating costs.
-
Main shut-off valve
In-house heating water shut-off function
-
Heating water distribution device
Function to distribute heating water supplied to each room
Rooms that are not in use should have their valves closed for savings
-
Air relief valve
Turn the valve counterclockwise to release air, and once hot water comes out, lock the valve.
It should be performed at least once during the heating season to ensure proper circulation of heating water.
-
Thermostat (Optimal indoor temperature 18~20°C)
Function to adjust indoor heating temperature up and down
During hot weather or when leaving the house: set it to "0"
To turn off heating completely: lock the main shut-off valve.
-
When the heating system is not functioning properly overall
-
Set the thermostat to a higher temperature and wait for 20-30 minutes.
-
Check if the main shut-off valve is open and aligned with the pipe.
-
Open the air relief valve next to the heating water distribution unit and completely remove the air from the pipe. Once water starts coming out, close it immediately.
-
-
When heating is not working partially
Open the valve in the room where the heating is not working and slightly open the main shut-off valve.
-
When hot water supply is not working
Turn the hot water faucet to hot water only and wait for 1-2 minutes.
-
Functions and Location of Thermostat
-
Location of Thermostat
It is possible to adjust heating temperature using the household thermostat.
It is located near the entrance of the room or near the light switch in the living room.
-
-
Use of Household Thermostat
-
Indoor Temperature Adjustment Function
Larger numbers increase indoor temperature, while smaller numbers decrease indoor temperature.
-
-
Precautions for Use
-
No Heat Shut-off Function on Thermostat
Even when the thermostat is in the OFF state, a small amount of heat supply may occur for freeze protection. Therefore, if heating is not needed, the shut-off valve of the household heating distribution unit should be closed.
-
-
Function and Location of the Household Main Shut-off Valve
-
How to Use the Household Main Shut-off Valve
The household main shut-off valve opens when aligned with the pipe and closes when perpendicular.
The household main shut-off valve functions to open and close the flow of heating water within the household (heat supply shut-off function).
It is located near the entrance of the heating hot water distribution unit.
Frequent manipulation may lead to valve malfunction.
-
-
Function and Location of Hot Water Distribution Unit
-
How to use Hot Water Distribution Unit
It distributes heating water to each room (master bedroom, second room, etc.) and the living room.
It is possible to adjust the heating amount for each heating zone using each ball (butterfly) valve.
It is installed under the kitchen sink or in the storage area, etc.
-
-
Exterior walls insulation and window gaps sealing, when necessary
-
Adjusting the valves in unused rooms (Example)
Assuming a flow rate of 100, if is distributed the flow equally among four valves, each valve will have a flow rate of 25%.
If one valve is closed, the remaining three valves will have to distribute the flow equally, resulting in each valve having a flow rate of approximately 33.3%.
Therefore, to achieve energy savings equivalent to closing one valve for heating purposes,
it should be also appropriately close the control valve to allow only about 75% of the flow.

-
Function and Location of Heating Air Vent Valve
-
How to Use an Air Vent Valve
When air accumulates in the heating pipes, it hinders the circulation of heating water. To address this issue, there is a system for expelling air from within the pipes.
It is needed to check when starting the heating system during the winter season or when heating is not functioning correctly.
Open the valve to expel air and close it when the air expulsion is complete.
Typically, it is located at the top of the heating distributor or at the top of bathroom radiators.

-
Functions and Locations of Household Heating Meters
-
How to Use Household Heating Meters
It is a device that measures the heating energy or flow used by each unit and serves as the basis for billing heating costs to individual units.
Typically, individual heating meters are installed near the kitchen sink or around the entrance area where the heating distribution unit is located.

For the efficient use of district heating to ensure a comfortable living environment for our customers,
here are some practical steps for residents to follow!
-
Please use the thermostat judiciously.
-
Set it to a lower temperature
During warmer periods or when you are away, set it to a lower temperature.
-
-
Please maintain an appropriate indoor temperature.
-
Proper Indoor Temperature
Excessively high indoor temperatures are not healthy. (Government recommended indoor temperature is 18°C to 20°C.)
-
-
Please make appropriate use of the hot water distribution unit.
-
How to use Hot Water Distribution Unit
Close the valves in unused rooms and adjust the heat usage with the heating hot water distribution system valve.
-
-
Exterior walls insulation and window gaps sealing, when necessary
-
How to use Household Main Shut-off Valve
Please check and take measures for the insulation status of external walls, window gaps, etc.
-
-
Step 1
-
Setting to Larger Numbers
Set the thermostat to a larger number.
If there is no change after 20-30 minutes, proceed to step 2.
-
-
Step 2
-
Check if the shut-off valve is open
Check if the household main shut-off valve is open.
If it's open and still not working, proceed to step 3.
-
-
Step 3
-
Removing Air from the pipes.
Open the air release valve next to the heating hot water valve and completely remove the air from the pipes. (Close it as soon as water starts flowing.)
-
-
Step 1
-
Opening the valve in a room that isn't warming up.
Open the valve in the room where heating is not working within the heating hot water distribution unit.
If it's already open, proceed to step 2.
-
-
Step 2
-
Partially open the main shut-off valve a little bit more
Open the household main shut-off valve a little bit more.
-
